Johnny Carroll, Marketing, Public Leadership
[email protected]
For those who may not know me, my name is Johnny Carroll. I am a sophomore at the University of Maryland, College Park, majoring in Marketing in the Robert H. Smith School of Business. I am a member of the College Park Scholars Public Leadership program. For as long as I can remember being on this earth, I have always pictured myself as a leader. Since grade school I have enjoyed being in positions of power, no matter how large or small the role may be. I always like to be busy with responsibilities in life, and I always like to be active in my community. Obviously the most important takeaway I want from college is a four-year degree in Marketing, but that isn’t the only thing. When I signed up for public leadership, I had no idea what to expect. Now, being three semesters in, I can honestly say that my viewpoint on leadership has been updated and clarified. While my ideals remain the same, I have so much more knowledge on what makes a leader effective. Later in life, I hope to be able to be a leader in my own company or my own business, and the foundations that I have learned during these three semesters have set me up perfectly for that. When I leave the Public Leadership program after next semester, I want to be able to say that I am on track for where I want to be in terms of leadership in life, and I am confident that will be the case.
